Abstract: A static synchronous compensator is one of the FACTS devices used to improve the transient stability of the power system. In this paper a mamdani based fuzzy logic controller is designed. The inputs to the fuzzy logic are the alternator speed i.e. ω and its derivative i.e. 𝒅𝝎 𝒅𝒕 and the output is the firing angle α of the voltage source converter. The proposed controller is tested on two machine system using Matlab Simulink Environment. The Results are compared with conventional PI STATCOM Controller.
