Analysis of Introversion and Extroversion of HCI Over-Engagement in Korean and Chinese University Students

Abstract: It is to investigate adverse effects of Human Computer Interface (HCI) for over-engagement; to enhance understanding how over-engagement affects introversion and extroversion behaviors in Korean and Chinese university students. Methods/Statistical analysis: The study aims to determine the differences of HCI over-engagement in introversion and extroversion behaviors by gender and by levels related to risky groups to know the level of HCI over-engagement introversion and extroversion behaviors. The study also analyzes HCI over-engagement influences by assessing K-indexes in 421 and 422 Korean and Chinese university students, respectively. T-test, one-way ANOVA, cross-tabulation analysis, and correlation analysis were performed as the statistical methods. Findings: Korean university students showed more extroversion over-engagement behaviors with a rating of 2.29 compared to introversion behaviors which had a rating of 2.16. Chinese students, on the other hand, showed more introversion over-engagement behaviors with a rating of 2.64 compared to 2.63 rating for extroversion behaviors. Females demonstrated more vulnerability to the risk of HCI over-engagement than males in case of simultaneous exposure, alike in both countries. As the level of over-engagement by risk groups increased, the internal distress and problematic behaviors and extroversion behaviors also increased significantly. These results justified the classifications of introversion and extroversion, which is the main concept in this study. With respect to the comparisons of risk groups of two countries’ students, it shows the order: potential risk group < high-risk group < general group. This demonstrates that high-risk group is bigger than potential risk group in both countries. Improvements/Applications: HCI over-engagement could be measured as two different behaviors: introversion and extroversion; and by their levels. Thus clearly Negative-entropy viewpoint is planted in one system to deal with HCI.

The Effects of 250µs Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation on the Hip Joint Range of Motion

Abstract: Although a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) pulse duration of 100–150 µs has been used conventionally to stimulate sensory nerve fibers, this pulse duration is not sufficient for stimulating motor nerve fibers. Therefore, this study was designed to test a new TENS protocol for stimulating motor nerve fibers. Methods/Statistical analysis: Fifteen males in their twenties with no lower back or pelvic orthopedic abnormalities and no contraindications for TENS participated in this study. A variable pulsation TENS machine was used. Using a high pulsating current of 250 µs, as in acupuncture-like TENS, each segment of the longissimus and iliocostalis muscles on both sides was contracted as much as possible, without causing pain. Afterwards, a stainless steel goniometer was used to measure the hip joint range of motion (ROM) during an active straight leg raise (ASLR) test. Findings: Conventional TENS controls pain through the stimulation of sensory nerves and it is effective for diverse diseases, such as increase of blood flow and acute or chronic pain. The existing TENS that is being broadly used is not appropriate for stimulating motor nerve that has high threshold. In this study,ES-420 (ITO, Japan) was used where pulsation variables can be freely controlled. Using high pulsating current of 250us following the acupuncture-like TENS mechanism, each segment of longissimus and iliocostalis on both sides erector spinae muscles of the subjects were contracted as much as possible within the range of not causing pain. Afterward, The ASLR test results showed that the active straight leg raise test was left hip joint ROM increased conducted where the range of motion of left-side hip joint significantly, increased from 75.40±8.13˚ to 81.80±9.99˚ (p<0.05), and the right hip joint and the range of motion of right-side hip joint increased significantly, increased from 70.53±10.92˚ to 81.00±12.97˚ (P<0.05). Not only electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), but also TENS with high pulse duration of 250us can stimulate motor nerve that has high threshold, which consequently produces effects of reducing muscle tension and enhancing muscle strength. Improvements/Applications: TENS with high pulse duration of 250us can stimulate motor nerves that have high threshold. TENS is expected to become a new protocol that promotes functional enhancement, such as reduction of muscle tension and enhancement of muscle strength muscle.

The Effects of Full Immersion and Semi-Immersion Games on Autonomic Nervous System of Healthy Adult

Abstract: This study attempts to confirm the safety of immersion and semi – immersion game through participatory tasks. Methods/Statistical analysis: The subjects were 12 male and 18 female. The study subjects were selected as those who had no problems in participating in the experiment. Before the experiment, the temperature and humidity of the experiment room were controlled. Behavior affecting the experiment was also controlled. All subjects first measured the autonomic nervous system status at rest in a pulse wave system. On the same day, semi-immersive participatory virtual reality was applied. The next day, the subjects applied a fully immersive participatory virtual reality. Each experiment was performed on different dates to avoid the interference effect of subject’s experiment. Findings: The task of participating in the virtual reality game increased the activity of the sympathetic nervous system in both full immersion and semi – immersion environments. Changes in the autonomic nervous system were within normal ranges without significant differences. However, in the case of a complete immersion type task, sympathetic nervous system hyperactivity is great. And the parasympathetic nervous system deteriorated more easily. Improvements/Applications: As a result of this experiment, autonomic nervous system change is considered to be somewhat safer in the virtual reality situation.

Subjectivity on Filial Piety among Korean Undergraduate Students: An Application of Q Methodology

Abstract: In this study, figures out the type of subjectivity about filial piety among Korean undergraduate students using Q methodology. Methods/Statistical analysis: For the Q population, an in-depth interview and literature review were used to select 34 Q samples for Q-sort. P-sample was made with 30 undergraduate students and Q-sort was performed on a 9-point scale according to their subjective agreement. The analysis is performed by PC-QUNAL program. Findings: Four types of filial piety in Korean undergraduate students were identified: mind and expression oriented type, child-centered and material-oriented type, reflections on change of times type, and unconditional duty type. Improvements/Applications: As the result of this study suggests, based on classification of filial piety of Korean undergraduate students, strengthen humanistic education for undergraduate students will need to be developed and different, individualized educational strategies provided.

Subjectivity on Andropause among Middle-aged Men using Q Methodology

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to identify type of subjectivity onandropause among middle-aged men using Q methodology. Methods/Statistical analysis: For the Q population, an indepth interview and literature review were used to select 32 Q samples for Q-sort. P-sample was made with 29 middle-aged men and Q-sort was performed on a 9-point scale according to their subjective agreement. The analysis is performed by PC-QUNAL program. Findings: Four types of andropause in middle-aged men were identified: overcome hard type, a sense of futility and depressed type, health and sexual function-centered type, and support-centered type. Improvements/Applications: As the result of this study suggests, based on classification of andropause in middle-aged men, intervention program for middle-aged men will need to be developed and different, individualized intervention strategies provided.

Investigation of Infection Awareness of Physical Therapy Students

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of infection by physical therapy students before and after practice. The exposure to the hospital infection at the medical institution is a health problem that should be treated with the patient infected not only in the health care of each employee but also in the fact that the personnel engaged in the medical institution can become the infectious agent of the patient as the infectious agent. There have been few researches on infection control in physical therapy students, physical therapists and physical therapy rooms who meet patients for a relatively long period of time or who have a lot of physical contact. Methods/Statistical Analysis :It surveyed the questionnaire to 4-year physiotherapists, who have gone to practice and who have not gone to practice to find the infection awareness before and after the practice. After the questionnaire was collected, questionnaires about students ‘awareness of infection and questionnaires after students’ practice were divided and classified. Based on the data, we analyzed and recognized the level of awareness of infection control students in physical therapy. For the research tool, the questionnaire items for this paper were prepared with reference to the Infection Control Guidelines of the Korean Hospital Infection Control Association and the previous questionnaire. Likert scale was used to measure the same level of awareness and the higher the score, the higher the awareness score. Findings: There was an increase in the level of awareness of the subjects who responded to the questionnaire before and after the practice, but there was no significant difference in the overall level of awareness. Improvements/Applications: It is necessary to study repeatedly for various physical therapy students and additional training is needed to improve the awareness of physical therapy students about hospital infection control.

The Influence on Medication Adherence of the Elderly with Chronic Diseases in Rural Area

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Health Literacy, Social-Support, and Self-Efficacy on Medication Adherence of the Elderly with Chronic Diseases in Rural. Methods/Statistical analysis: The subjects were 239 elderly people aged 65 years or older who wanted to attend two small hospitals in J do H, and data collection was conducted from July 14, 2017 to August 14, 2017 using structured questionnaires one on one interviews were conducted. The instruments of the research included the Korean Functional Health Literacy Test(KHLT), Social-Support is used MPSS(The Multidimensional Scale of Social-Support) and Self-Efficacy Scale, Medication Adherence is used Medication Adherence Scale(MMAS-8).The data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0, as Correlation among Health Literacy, Social-Support, Self-Efficacy and medication in Adherence of objects, Pearson’s correlation coefficient was used. Factors Affecting Medication adherence of the Elderly with Chronic Diseases were analyzed with Multiple regression. Findings: The results of the study were as follows. The higher the level self-efficacy, the higher the health literacy(r=.80, p＜.001). The higher the level self-efficacy, the higher the level of social-support(r=.77, p＜.001). The factors influencing medication adherence are daily frequency of medication(p=.005), and self-efficacy (p=.010). The explanation is that medication adherence is total 22.9%(F=8.56, p<.001). Improvements/ Applications: In conclusion, this study showed that medication adherence had a positive correlation among health literacy, self-efficacy, and social and social-support. Thus this suggests that in order to enhance medication adherence of the elderly with chronic diseases in rural Area, programs which up step self-efficacy have to be provided first of all.

Changes in the Quality of Life After Women’s Menopause

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to identify changes in quality of life after women’s menopause and the factors affecting the quality of life of premenopausal women and postmenopausal women. Methods/Statistical analysis: This is a secondary analysis study that integrates raw data from the KNHANES. Of the 22,948 participants who participated in the KNHANES between 2013 and 2015, ultimately 4,378 individuals who were suitable for the purpose of this study were analyzed. Using the SPSS program, the changes in quality of life after menopause and the factors affecting the quality of life of premenopausal and postmenopausal women were analyzed using the CSGLM. Findings: The quality of life by the postmenopausal period was significantly different both in the EQ-5D index and within the sub-categories of quality of life, including mobility, self-care, usual activities, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression. Subject’s age, perceived usual stress and perceived health status of premenopausal women were covariates, and the factors affecting the quality of life (EQ-5D index) of premenopausal women were education level and basic living conditions. Subject’s age, menopausal age, postmenopausal period, perceived usual stress, and perceived health status were covariates in postmenopausal women, and factors affecting the quality of life (EQ-5D index) of postmenopausal women were household income, education level, and occupation. Improvements/Applications: The results of this study can be used as useful data for the development of programs to improve the health-related quality of life of women in the postmenopausal period.

Evaluation of Scattered Dose of Highly Radiosensivity Major Organ During Computed Tomography Examination

Abstract: We made an attempt to measure the scattering dose of space, surface, and deep region focusing on organs that are sensitive to radiation during CT examination and compare their characteristics. Methods/Statistical analysis: To conduct the experiment, we used 64-Slice MDCT for CT Scanner and Rando Phantom. For dose measurement, first, we used a Survey meter to measure space scattering dose, second, to measure incident surface dose, we used OSLD nanodot, and third, to measure deep dose, we used a glass dosimeter.The choice of the location for the measurement of radiation dose was based on organs that are susceptible to radiation, namely Orbit for Head, Breast for Chest, and Godnad for Abdomen.Findings: In the head CT scan, at breast,the space dose was 48.2 ± 0.34 μSv, the surface dose was 82.0 ± 2.29 μSv and the deep dose was 376.0 ± 1.58 μSv. In the Gonad, the space dose was 9.7 ± 0.02 μSv, the surface dose was 20.0 ± 1.36 μSv, and the deep dose was 12.0 ± 1.27μSv. In the chest CT scan, at orbit,the space dose was 229.0 ± 2.85 μSv, the surface dose was 167.0 ± 1.27 μSv and the deep dose was 506.0 ± 1.58 μSv. In the Gonad, the space dose was 72.6 ± 0.41 μSv, the surface dose was 96.9 ± 1.53 μSv, and the deep dose was 190.0 ± 1.58μSv. In the abdomen CT scan, at orbit,the space dose was 68.7 ± 0.34 μSv, the surface dose was 72.0 ± 1.36 μSv and the deep dose was 224.0 ± 1.58 μSv. In the Breast, the space dose was 145.2 ± 1.57 μSv, the surface dose was 4597.0 ± 1.27 μSv, and the deep dose was 9137.0 ± 1.27μSv Improvements/Applications: It seems necessary to make constant efforts to reduce the dose of radiation by optimizing the radiation protection by blocking the space other than the main flux.

A Study of Trends and Consumer Awareness through Cosmetics Branding and Artist Collaboration

Abstract: The latest brands differentiate their products and provide more product value to consumers through artist collaboration. Artist collaboration is being used as a new marketing method. Methods/Statistical analysis: This study analyzed the cases of artist collaboration products for cosmetics brands and conducted a questionnaire survey about the products’ design, consumer satisfaction with the artist collaboration, the products’ visual effects, consumer psychology, and consumers’ purchase intention, to examine the effect that artists’ artworks have on consumers. Data from a questionnaire survey were processed statistically using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) v.25.0 after data coding and data cleaning. This study examined differences in consumers’ brand recognition with existing products, and what effect collaboration had on consumers’ assessment of product value. Findings This study found that marketing methods created by collaborations between artists and brands were able to produce new patterns in consumption culture and added value to the products. Furthermore, when an artwork’s color, image, or concept was applied to make-up products, it had an effect on consumer psychology in that consumers perceived an increase in product performance, make-up color effects, and make-up durability. By performing a questionnaire survey on the subjective opinions of consumers who had come across artist collaboration products, this study found that design had a positive effect on consumer purchases. Artist collaboration products were more aesthetically appealing than ordinary designs, and the visuals of the product, which consumers felt were a means to express their own uniqueness, increased. Previous studies were significant because they analyzed the relationship between image and consumer perception based on the collaboration products’ visual effects and other positive elements. Unlike previous studies, however, the present study analyzed consumers’ psychological views and their actual experience with consumption patterns. It also compared the correlation between them to negative elements, which could provide different perspectives from commonly held ideas. By doing so, this study was able to present various views on marketing and suggest a better approach from a different point of view. Improvements/Applications: To ensure that collaboration has a positive effect on consumer purchases and society as to product design and public interest, brands need to employ artistic influence, not for promotional events.
