Abstract: Failure evaluation for base materials, namely AA7075 aluminum alloy and pure aluminum and tool material have been identified during the process of friction stir welding (FSW). Though the friction stir welding is considered as ideal for joining the nonferrous materials, it is difficult to avoid flaws in all materials particularly while using improper welding parameters. The flaws like insufficient penetration at the bottom of the weld and the pores are easily taken place when the materials are welded at a faster rate or welded with a small application of pressure. The present work aims to investigate the failure of base metal and tool material. Pure Aluminum metal and solution heat treated and artificially aged 7075 aluminum alloy has been friction stir welding and failures are investigated. A failure in the AA7075 alloy base metal is the result of welding with precipitate condition in which no fusion occurs in the base metal by using HSS tool. A failure in the pure Aluminum is due to lack of penetration of the tool and stirring effect. Welding with this condition leads to decrease the hardness and tensile strength. Torsion impact causes the failures in the tool materials.

Abstract: Multiaxial Forging is one of the main deformation process which is used to refine the size of the grain material. In the present work AA 6063 alloy has been processed through MAF die with a different number of forging cycles. From the microstructural analysis of the forged samples, it is observed that the grain refinement was obtained with increasing number of forging cycles. The mechanical property in terms of hardness and compressive stress was also investigated and reported.

Abstract: The paper is discuss on develop and implement a vision based obstacle avoidance for mobile robot using optical flow process. There are four stages in this project which are image pre-processing, optical flow process, filtering, object stance measuring and obstacle avoidance. The optical flow process are an image resizing, set parameters, convert color to grayscale, Horn-Schunk method and change grayscale image to binary number. Next process is a filtering done by smoothing filter then image center will be defined. The maximum distance object from a camera has been set as 20 cm. Therefore, the decisions of the robot to move whether left or right are based on the direction of optical flow. This avoidance algorithm allows the mobile robot to avoid the obstacles which are in different shape either square or rectangular. A friendly graphical user interface (GUI) had been used to monitor the activity of mobile robot during run the systems.

Sedimentation Rate Analysis in Ponre-Ponre Dam and Estimate the Service Age of the Dam

Abstract: Sediment is the result of erosion process, either in the form of surface erosion, trench erosion, or other types of soil erosion. The increase of percentage of sediment in dam which increases rapidly each time, causing dam dredging and affecting dam capacity and service age of dam. This study discusses sedimentation sediment volume, sedimentation rate, sediment distribution, and estimated service age of Ponre-Ponre Dam in Bone, South Sulawesi. Sediment volume of sediments deposited at each elevation is marked by reduced dam volume. Sedimentation rate that occurs based on the sediment volume that stays every year. The service age of the dam is indicated by the reduction of the dam’s dead reservoir. The volume of sediments occurring at the Ponre-Ponre Dam in 2016 reached 8.7965437 X106m 3 . The rate sedimentation that occurred around 1.2566491 X106 m 3 /year. The dam’s planned service age is 50 years old but the measurement results does not support. By comparing the actual sedimentation rate with the reservoir planning data, if there is conformity it is necessary to do maintenance and if there is a faster estimate than the actual plan then it needs to be done sediment handling that occurs.

Abstract: Robots are extensively used in Research and Development. Agriculture and Home automation systems play a vital role in this autonomous world. By interfacing image and voice sensor a semi – autonomous biped robot using MATLAB and ARDUINO is developed. The main objective of this robotic system is to harvest the vegetables from the farm using image sensor. This is done by detecting and comparing predefined images with live video snap shot with in limited time. Another feature of this robot is to pick and place the objects in home. This robot can be used for various domestic purposes.

Abstract: Water is an essential factor for all living organism in the world. But the polluted atmosphere results in the contamination of water. The water may be contaminated with impurities like dissolved salts, dust particles and especially the presence of various microorganism such as bacteria, virus etc. The occurrence of these pollutants causes several health issues. So it becomes vital to purify the water before consuming. There are various water purification methods available today like RO, UV, UF, RO+UV, RO+UV+UF etc. However every method possesses some drawbacks. The motive of the proposed ultra-Nano purification method is to provide an efficient water purification method which provides pure water suitable for drinking along with essential minerals. In addition it also overcomes the drawback of present techniques.

Multiband U Shaped Patch for C and S Band Applications

Abstract: In this paper multiband U-shaped patch antenna is designed for C and S band applications. L-shaped slots introduced in the two corner of the patch antenna which improves the antenna performance to operate with multiband of frequencies and also provide notch characteristics at 3 GHz. The patch is operated at four bands of frequencies. Operating frequency of the antenna is from 1 to 10 GHz. FR-4 substrate with 4.4 dielectric constant is used for antenna design. Simulations results are carried out by ADS tool. U-shaped patch with L slot and stub which is placed on the defective ground plane achieves return loss upto -47dB at 1.7 GHz and 5 GHz. The gain of the patch antenna is about 6 dB.

Abstract: Many of the robotic appliances are being used extensively. Here represents the technology that proposed the working of the floor cleaner using RF technology and GSM module. This robot works on the manual mode. It performs sweeping task upto 50m range. Here RF technology have been used to provide wireless communication between the user and the robot. In the existing system there were many disadvantages like it performs poor cleaning, costly, we need to preclean before using the machine and, it is carried out using wired communication. In the proposed method we have used five motors, one for cleaning and four for movement of wheels. All operations are controlled by PIC16F877A microcontroller. Microcontroller is the brain of robot where program is written and sensors are connected as input and actuators as output LCD is used to display the information in which direction of robot has been moved. In the manual mode the expected task is performed with the help of keypad. If any obstacle is detected then it sends message to the user’s mobile which is connected with GSM module. L293D motor driver is used to drive the motors. Five motors are used in this robot and this motors are controlled by the motor driver. The whole circuit is connected with the power supply.

In recent times many water level monitoring systems are available but those systems does not provide all information about the water availability [2]. In this Paper we proposing new concept of water monitoring system to accurately measure the water availability in cubic meters. This water management is proposed for Educational institutions, large scale companies those have more water storage tanks. This is the method to find the availability of water.

Enhanced Conventional PID controller for Temperature Control in Woody Gasifier using Searching Algorithms

Abstract: This paper focused on the design of improved Proportional Integral and Derivative (PID) controller in terms of optimum parameters of PID by introducing various searching algorithms. This developed controller is used to control the temperature of the downdraft biomass gasifier. Now days the PID controllers are widely used in many industrial applications due to its simplified design procedures. Though, the key issue in PID controller design involved in the optimization of optimal PID parameters for ideal system performance. In this work the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and the ANFIS based algorithm were used to obtain the PID parameters for the temperature control of downdraft biomass gasifier. The results of the simulation are obtained and it was observed that the optimized ANFIS PID controller is able to improve the performance of the closed-loop system compared to the Ziegler-Nichols tuning method, and PSO techniques with respect to the transient responses and performance indices.
